A Little
Do you want a thriving local food system? That’s at the heart of what we’re doing.
In 2010, at the encouragement of the City of Charles Town, an ad hoc committee was formed to explore what could be done to grow the floundering, county run Jefferson Farmers Market. After months of meetings, a community attended workshop and much research, The Charles Town Farmers Market was founded.
With a new location and a dedicated team, CTFM has become a cornerstone of the city economy and the springboard from which The Jefferson G.A.P. Coalition and the Bushel and Peck grocery store were established.
Having contributed over $10 million economic impact, hosted over a hundred local and regional vendors many of which have gone on to establish brick and mortar stores or successful on farm operations, and thousands of volunteer hours, CTFM is proud to have become one of Charles Town’s cherished assets and destination points.
Supporting local foods, small agricultural and small businesses, and community building is at the heart of what we do. Our mission is to create and sustain a vibrant and resilient economy and community for sustainably produced local food, food products, and artisan goods.
our steering
The mission of the Charles Town Farmers Market is to foster and sustain a centralized market that supports the viability of local farmers and producers who offer fresh local produce and farm products produced sustainably, enhancing the business, nutritional, and community health of West Virginia. These are the faces that help guide us in that mission.
